What do you do when you realize you’ve lost your self-esteem?
I’m 36, been married 11 years with three kids, but I think I’ve lost my self-esteem and confidence. I can remember a time when I felt like I was on top of the world and can handle any and all obstacles, now I feel like I can’t do anything. I feel like I’ve changed for the worse and I’m far from a good person…
How is it best to deal with something like this?
I’m in the same boat wondering the same things…. Is it just because we need to do something other than work and be great at it for a boost in self esteem or what? What were you doing then, I was surrounded by friends and women really wanted to be with me and I got 7 numbers a night when I was working 3rd shift at a resturant. now, I would just feel better if One chick looked at me, I think that would help mine a little, or maybe if I was just the best or really good at something, but now since I am a family man, I don’t really have very much time for games or friends however people do tend to see me as a great father. But you know what helped me the most….. In 2002 I died in a car accident and revived yada yada, and woke up in what was basically a body cast and was told I may never be able to run or walk easily again, they didn’t know what was going to happen to me, and then in 2004 for 4th of july my friend, my ex and myself drove to Denver, CO. on a whim. When we got there, we stayed the night in a hotel, and the next morning went driving into the mountains. We drove around until we saw the first climable mountain that we could find with ice on the top, Once we found it we parked the car and stated making the hike up (It was a heck of a journey) and the whole time my ex kept telling me “you can’t just climb a mountain jeremy, you can’t just climb a mountain, jeremy” etc. Once I got to the top of that mountain and I looked around at all the ice caps in the distance all around me, being inside the jet stream, I felt like I could do anything, for almost a year after that. Maybe I need to do something like that again, and maybe you need to do something like that yourself, on a whim.
